Since I figure it'll help galvanise us, I want to launch the game on 1 May. Before then I'll make sure there's a rules/FAQ post. We'll take applications for the game before we officially open, but it makes sense to try to create your character before then so you can get in right at the start! I may start with a couple of events to help as many characters as possible mix together before letting you go off on your own for a bit to start exploring connections. As you know, this game will have a little more modly nudging than Excolo, but for the first couple of weeks at least I'll mostly just let everyone find their feet with their characters.

So! If you've already designed a character that's been approved, make sure you make them a journal and use that journal to join this comm and game comm! If you haven't designed a character yet, come on in: the water's warm!

And I declare this post a party post! Come in here and get to know your fellow players!

Par-Tay!

I'm Becky, a 30-something academic currently living in Canada. I teach medieval history, cook a lot, geek out over Game of Thrones, play a lot of RPGs, and am just starting to knit.

I'm currently reading Catherynne Valente's Palimpsest, and loving it! And, uh, favorite sandwich filling is apple and brie :)

I'm Sean, a mid-20s philosophy student, generally native to London (England) but currently on the tail end of a year spent at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I love tabletop roleplaying, videogames, socialist feminism, and whisky.

Hi! (Actually, I think a couple of players are from around there...) Videogames for console or PC?

Mostly for console, by necessity - keeping up with a gaming PC costs far too much, whereas my trusty rusty Xbox 360 cost me 75 quid and has served for years. I also play whatever classic/indie PC games my little netbook can run. My heart belongs to RPGs (especially the Fallout series), but I've lived the past few months with a pair of avid Street Fighter enthusiasts and so fighting games have kind of rubbed off on me.

OMG Fallout yes. (First game I ever played, which indicates that I came to the hobby kinda late.) I tend to RPG/horror myself, although there don't often seem to be a lot of quiet creepy horror games for the PC.

I'm mostly on PC myself; I'm a very slow player (hence my avoiding most dual/multiplayer games, although I will sometimes pick up something with zombies when John wants to play), and like to be able to take breaks to read/chat online when frustrated, so the computer works better for me.

...heh. Pardon the brief spate of geekery. May see about a bit of Fallout 3 tonight.

PC gamer here! I LOVED Fallout 3 and have been waiting for New Vegas to come down in price before picking it up. :) I'd've purchased it long before now but I preordered both Skyrim and Mass Effect 3, because I'm a bit of a video game nut.

I'm wearing my NCR t-shirt right now :D You'll like New Vegas, even better than Fallout 3 I think. Fallout 2 was my favourite game as a kid (I was introduced to computer RPGs by a boxed set of Fallout 2, Baldur's Gate, and Planescape: Torment. Best thing I ever bought).

(replying with my character, too lazy to log out!)

despite being an ardent Bioware fan, I've yet to play Baldur's Gate. *awkward foot shuffle* I should definitely put that on my list.

Uhm. You know, if you haven't bought it yet, and are okay with Steam, I have a spare copy?

I'm not joking. I've given away two already, and it would be awesome to pass the third on to someone who'd play it. :)

Hellooooooooo

I'm Liz. Firmly entrenched in my middle twenties and working at my local public library as an archival clerk in between degrees. I'm an avid RP and video game fanatic and will talk for hours at the slightest provocation about The Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Shenmue. Does anyone remember Shenmue? No? ): just me?

I'm currently re-reading the Farseer trilogy, with the Bingtown Traders and Tawny Man trilogies to come afterwards.

okay, better now.

Eeee, library work. Much envy. Hi! (Also the same console/PC question.)

ETA2: by which I mean, now that I realize how vague "above" is, do you play more on console or on PC?

Hee, I figured it out after reading the rest of the thread. :D I'm a PC gamer normally, though I still dust off my old Sega Dreamcast to replay the Shenmue games and Skies of Arcadia, from time to time.

Hi everyone, I'm LT. I live in Durham, NC and tend to have more hobbies than actual free time to do them. Um... I like horror writing, dance burlesque, and know way too much about serial killers. (Yes, Frances, we are a bit weird.)

I haven't finished my character yet, but that's only because it's an idea so amazingly fantastic that my brain fries every time I try to put it into words. :)

Recovering lawyer, forcibly unemployed due to immigration status so spending far too much time geeking out online XD Also likes food.

Siobhan here! Mid-20's living in Massachusetts. I read, I bake, I cook, I do geeky things, I play with my giant black poufy cat. I write sentences which are grammatically incorrect.

Sandwiches are nice- I've been adding avocado to everything lately.

Hi, guys! For those of you know don't know me from Excolo: I'm ohgod-how-did-I-hit-my-thirties, Canadian, a horror geek, a devout reader, a knitter, owner of two cats and a dog, and at the moment worn out enough that nothing else is coming to mind.

Welcome, all? :)

I'm Julie, a geek from Montreal. I'll be 30 in three weeks (dear God!) and still sleep with a teddy bear (yes, really). Also, I have an M.A. in Medieval History that I'm currently not using at all, an extensive Jewish upbringing that I mostly only bring out at holidays or when confronted by missionaries, and a very large collection of gaming books that I use on a weekly basis.

Hi!

wait. Have we met at a conference or something? Or...something? Because we have so many crossovers in our lives that it's really surprising that we haven't! And you seem really familiar...

From: [identity profile] eveglass.livejournal.com
Erm... maybe? I don't think we have any shared LJ friends other than Rachel and Jack, but it's not impossible.

I haven't really been to any Medievalist conferences, but I do go to Pennsic every year (I mentioned I was a geek, right?), and was at the University of Toronto doing my M.A. in the 2005-6 academic year. I style myself a bard; you can see my works and stuff on my rarely-updated blog: http://pocketbard.wordpress.com

Any of that ring any bells?

From: [identity profile] ladybird97.livejournal.com
Pennsic! I haven't been there, but I'd be willing to bet that you've crossed over with some of my friends there, 'cause I know a lot of people in the SCA music and theater scene. Do you know Sabine, baroness of Bhakail? And oh, I see that you know [livejournal.com profile] ulfhirtha! They're both friends of mine from undergrad.

And also, hi :) You seem really excellent, as does your character, and I'm looking forward to playing with you here!

From: [identity profile] eveglass.livejournal.com
Ah, nifty! I know *of* the baroness of Bhakail, though I can't say I know her personally. I've probably ran into her before. Bhakail is good for bards, though I haven't often taken advantage of their hospitality.

Looking forward to gaming with you too!

Hi! Um...I'm Angela, a 30 something Canadian living in the same city as Torrain. I read too much and play lots of RPGs. And have no idea what else to tell you people as I hate introducing myself.

Oh, I should probably mention that I am the player of Stefanos Ferentinou, the alchemically inclined university student and I think I maybe started the whole golem plot. I'd really like to chat with people about that, see if we can't actually come up with some ideas...
